Mochisho Shizuku, Japanese confectionary store, Osaka

This was a commission for a new branch of an Osaka based traditional Japanese confectioner, specializing in stuffed rice cakes (mochi). The project also included establishing a corporate identity and product design to distinguish the brand image.The merchandise is highly sensitive and remains edible for only a single day. The mochi are made from selected organic ingredients and are strictly prepared by hand in the traditional way. Thus the pared down design reflects the ephemeral nature of the products sold there. A gallery space was also incorporated into the shop’s interior.Photography by Takumi Ota.
